minazione e resistenza irakena

No "serious" candidates will say anything remotely close to committing to the removal of troops from the occupation, however many will make it seem like they are advocating for a serious change, for example continuing the occupation with 90,000 troops and changing the nature of their mission.

Where as I previously stated that the government was forced to reevaluate its policies during Vietnam in response to the staunch VC/ NLF resistance, the crippling decline in effectiveness and discipline of the military and tremendous, domestic unrest, the current scenario requires a qualitatively different level of all forms of resistance. More clearly, the U.S. has much more at stake in Iraq than it did in Vietnam; therefore the need for dedicated GI organizing is much more pressing.

It is foolish to think that the war will peter out on its own.

Recap of Saturday, January 12

The election will have a big impact on how the White House treats certain sectors, as well at how it treats taxes (including corporate taxes).

Tobin Smith: Its not helping…but the killer is the REAL unemployment rate which is REALLY about 5.5 percent and going to 6.5 percent because we are in a recession. Yes ChangeWave Research is now forecasting that we are in a stalled economy that goes to negative 1 percent growth in Q2 and Q3. We are moving from correction to bear market unless the FED goes ½ point cut pre-meeting and ½ point at meeting. But we are in a consumer led recession and it's going to be a real recession. So get ready for 3 percent Fed Funds rates by summer….

BOFH : What GPS is for

A few days later the Boss returns from lunch nursing a black eye, a bloody nose and a broken GPS, so we know the dream's over...

"What happened?" I ask feigning concern.

"I... tripped," he says. "But I really need to organise a new GPS as the screen on this one's broken and I have something I need to look up."

"Staring at the screen when you should have been watching where you were going?" the PFY asks, pulling a replacement unit out of his drawer.

"Something like that," the Boss says, leaving the broken GPS and wandering off with its replacement.

"Great stuff this Geocaching," the PFY says, pulling yet another unit out of his drawer. "You find the coordinates of some local night-shift working nutcase, post them - along with some clues that only the Boss could figure out – to the website then pay some kids to ring the nutcase's doorbell every half hour or so for the next few days before running off...
